Are you living in the province of Quebec in Canada and thinking about installing an electric car charger? There is good news!
If you are a resident in the province of Quebec in Canada and have an electric vehicle, likely you will have thought about installing an electric car charging station at your residence. During the cold winter months temperatures drop to well below -20C (-4 F) during the nights, which could significantly reduce the battery charge. Installing a charger is quite an investment costing several thousands of dollars. To support its citizens switch to electric vehicles (EV), the Quebec government offer a rebate program.
For those that want the option to charge their cars at home, residents could benefit from $600 in lump sum financial assistance for the purchase and installation of a 240-volt home charging station.
In order to be eligible, the following conditions must be met:
The home charging station unit must be on the eligibility list
It must be installed by a certified company and be Level 2AC qualified.
Applicants must be the owner or lessee of an all-electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid vehicle or an electric motorcycle.
For used vehicles, the owner’s name and the address at which the charging station is to be installed must be different from previous applications linked to the vehicle.
The purchase of the charging station must be completed before filing the rebate application.
The charging station must be new
There are some exclusions that would make the home charging station non-eligible to receive the incentives from this program includes. Some dealerships, manufacturers or municipalities may offer promotions on the purchase or installation of a home charging station. If you have benefited from financial assistance to cover the purchase or installation costs, you may not be eligible for reimbursement for a home charging station. A copy of the invoice is required to submit the rebate application.
Also as mentioned earlier, the unit must be new. That means store demo units are not considered new at the time of resale and will also not be eligible.
Like many governments, the province of Quebec is incentivizing its residents to switch to electric vehicles. The program provides up to $600 rebate for the purchase and installation of a new home charging station. This is a smart move which will give more steam to the adoption of EV.
